I played around with the remote and the timer on my camera to capture spinning in progress. This is some Blue Faced Leicester from the Spunky Eclectic fiber club -- it's called "Tulips," and I think it might make a nice gift for my Sockapalooza pal. Sure, I haven't started on the second sock yet, and I admit that I do seem to have a touch of second-sock syndrome, but I really do want to send along some handspun, and I think my pal will like it.
In the comments yesterday, Ava claimed she does not cook. Then, in an email, she confessed that she actually does cook chili, so I have thrown down a gauntlet: I told her if she tries the pasta recipe I put up here in my food blog and doesn't like it, I will send her yarn. To me, hearing someone say they don't really enjoy cooking is pretty much like hearing someone say they really don't think knitting is all that interesting, so I'm willing to lay a little stash on the line here.
Ava has...picked up the gauntlet? thrown down another gauntlet? I'm not sure about what happens with the gauntlet at this point, but anyway, she says it's on. What do you think -- will I be kissing some stash goodbye, or will Ava add a new dish to her repertoire (and maybe decide that this cooking stuff ain't so bad)?
I've been outed! Actually, I hate my kitchen. I would take a picture of it, but I "graciously" gave my camera to the girls for their annual shore trip (I didn't have "annual trips" when I was 16). That "graciously" bit should translate to, "Here, take Mommy's camera so she can go buy a new Nikon D40 like your aunt wants her to so she can play with it in a week." Sucker! I'll make the pasta dish later this week . . . I promise.

A battle is brewing! I'm excited to hear the results.
I'm always surprised when she says that she didn't cook anymore. She used to be an adventurous cook. Funny thing is, she'll buy a cookbook every time we're shopping. Hmm...

Gotta luv an action pic! As for the gauntlet, aren't you afraid there might be a little, ummm, dissing? She could SAY she doesn't like the pasta dish, right? Even if she does. Just to get stash. How aquisitive is she?

Wow. Well, if I knew my own hatred of cooking might result in gifts of yarn, I've have trumpeted it all over the internet long before now. There are knitters (though seemingly not many of them) who don't like to cook. I know because I am one of them. I don't like meal planning, food shopping, cooking, or washing dishes. None of it. It's not that I don't know how. I'm actually a pretty good cook. I just hate it. If it were up to me, I'd blow up the kitchen and eat out every meal.

I *love* that spinning in action shot! Re: the cooking, I'm right there with Suzanne V. I know my way around the kitchen but don't feel at all compelled to cook.
