It's that time of year when parents wonder where the time went. Even those of us not prone to sentimentality can't help but shed a tear or two when looking back at the progress of our children's lives and our role in shaping them.
Yesterday was our daughters 8th grade graduation. It's a very interesting time for these young men and women that we've all been watching during the three years of Middle School. They enter 6th grade as big kids and graduate as young adults. It's the first time we get a glimpse into what they will look like as adults. Jaclyn ran up to get dressed yesterday afternoon, a rag tag thirteen-year-old in her Old Navy shorts and tank top and descended the steps thirty minutes later looking four years older.
Parents with babies and toddlers often want to keep their kids at that so cute 'perfect' age. As my kids have gotten older I have found that each age is the perfect one. Having older kids means there's no more Barney on the TV, they put them selves to bed and most importantly they have interests that you can share. It's been a delight, but then again high school starts in just a few months.

congratulations for making it through middle school! it is kind of mind boggling to realize that we are now parents to a high school kid!

Wow, good for her!
My older son just finished elementary school. I am mildly hysterical at the thought of sending him off to middle school. It's good to see that yours survived the experience!
