Here it is! The new Bella Knitting Non-Garter (yippee) Log Cabin Baby Blanket. We do love new projects, and this one has us all buzzing.
We thought it was time to "build a better mousetrap." Garter-stitch log cabin blankets are cute, but we found some stitch patterns that allowed the same ease of construction while being just a little more...well...interesting than "knit every row until your fingers fall off." This is one of three versions (not a garter ridge in sight) that will be on our website really soon. The blanket is knit with Karabella Aurora 8, a perfect baby yarn; good colors, soft soft soft, and wonderfully machine washable.
Sarah and I have selected 8 beautiful color palettes (3 or 4 colors each) but since we carry 25 colors of Aurora 8 you’ll be able to Build Your Own. The project includes a detailed pattern (of course), an explanation of how log cabins work (for those who like to know), a color planning chart, and a free baby hat pattern designed to use up your leftover yarn.
Many thanks to our test knitter, Robin! She has some serious skills when it comes to testing and checking patterns. Since the prototype blanket is now living happily on the east coast with my friend Deke, we needed to knit up some samples fast –- and Robin came to our rescue. Thanks, Robin!
Here's the prototype with its new owner -- how cute is that?

I love the color combination and textured stitch pattern! Laura, you have a real knack for finding the "twist" that makes your designs innovative and special. I look forward to seeing you, your booth, and your wonderful projects at Stitches West!
